Corinthian 1st released Microstars in 2001 to try and attract new interests in the Corinthian figures. Primarily aimed at the younger market, microstars was set up as a game with each microstar having a different coloured base with various 'skill' levels on the underside. Nowadays, Microstars are just as collectable, if not more so as they are easier to store/display, than the original Prostars. Celtic figures again have featured throughout the Microstar series with some releases only being available from overseas - such as the South American Series 1 Juninho and the Swedish series 15 Thomas Gravesen.
Base colours range from Green, the lowest rating, right up to Black. The earlier series only went up to as far as Gold but Corinthian took the decision to make an ultra rare Black Base with the highest 'skill' rating available in series 12. Black bases are reported to have been released in the ratio of 1:50 against the other coloured bases and can fetch in excess of £50 each on eBay.
Each microstar has an 'MC' number on the base. This number is basically an individual code which relates to that specific figure to aid collectors keep track of the figures they have, aswell as the figures they still require.
