The very first Master Model made sculpted in an original bare state. These are used to make the mould hence why there will likely be markings and brown colour patches, and are known as the original Moulding Master Model or Unpainted Master Model. Once the mould is made then normally 6 Master Models are run off.

They are then painted without any sponsor logos, numbers or names on them. Corinthian will keep one in their archive which usually ends up at a later date being auctioned on eBay. This is known as the first Master Model or Unreleased Master Model if the figure is pulled.

The other 5 will be kept for repainting should the player move to another club after the figure is released.

If this happens then this model is then painted up and once passed by the Player and Club then becomes a Master Paint Model. If the Club or Player does not want the figure released then this becomes an Unreleased Paint Master.

That leaves 4 left if no damages have occured by this stage. These are then kept incase of the Player moving again to another Club or to be released in his National Kit in a future release. There can also be none left over if the Player or Club ask to keep the Master Model, although this is very unlikely.

On top of all that, the factory will always make more of each figure than requested incase of damages or re-orders. With this in mind, it is also possible that a wide eyed worker who sees an opening, runs a few extra off and paints them up to look like real Master Models and sells them on the secondary market, which would answer the questions as to why are there more than 6 Master Models about if Corinthian say there is only one available that they know of.

Some reasons why the figure can be pulled are because the player refuses permission for whatever reason, the club refuses permission for whatever reason or the player moves to another club earlier enough in the production stage of a series. They may well be other reasons also pertaining to sponsors and licensing.

Summary:
Not all Master Models are unique and the value of these are only what the buyer is prepared to pay!
Prices for what is thought to be unique Master Models range between £30 and over £1,000!!!
So think before you buy and ask questions if you are unsure wether it is genuine.

There are many Master Models out there and many are of unreleased figures.  As said above, these figures never made it to full production scale and, in my opinion, are highly collectable.  Here are some Celtic unreleased Master Models which were produced but are currently residing within collectors collections.  I know where some of these are, and the collectors seem reluctant to part with them, but some i do not know where they are...............
