HEADLINERS

Headliners were the 1st football product Corinthian released and were produced between 1995 and 1999.  Headliners, or 'Big heads' as they were more commonly known when they 1st arrived on the scene, are 7cm high football figures of some of the most famous football clubs of the that era.  Originally aimed at children, they soon appealed to maturer collectors who saw them as highly desirable.  Unfortunately, due to copyright laws, Corinthian were forced to change their name to the more commonly known Prostars.  The Celtic figures that were released in the headliner range were as follows:

In 1995, Corinthian released a Celtic 12 pack (CT12P) which consisted in the above 12 figures, with the exclusion of John Collins.

Alongside this, they also released 3 x 4packs with a combination of the above figures.

CT4A - McStay, Collins, Van Hooijdonk and O'Donnell.

CT4B - O'Neil, Hughes, Grant and Stubbs.

CT4C - Van Hooijdonk, McStay, O'Donnell and Bonner.

8 of the above (McStay, O'Donnell, Donnelly, Marshall, Boyd, Thom, Collins and Van Hooijdonk) were additionally released in single blister format and quantities differed according to the individuals popularity.  This has since lead to some becoming quite rare to find and you can still pick up a Van Hooijdonk from eBay for a couple of quid, whereas a Marshall blister will be more expensive.  I believe that all the individually released figures were also available in a clear sachet from Corinthian which again are very hard to find.  Corinthian also had these figures released in a retail sachet, in which i have a McStay, O'Donnell and Collins in.  Bizarrely, i got these via eBay from a seller in Greece!

Corinthian had planned to release 5 more Celtic figures but these were never released as Corinthian had lost the celtic lience for a year.  Bonner and Marshall, who had already been released, were penned to be released in their yellow away 'keeper kits and  new sculpts of Jackie McNamara, Tosh Mckinlay and Morten Wieghorst were also on the cards.  None of these figures were ever released and subsequently the Master Models were auctioned off.  The Weighorst figure was unfortunately repainted into his national colours of Denmark, which in my opinion, is a travesty in its own right!

My partner is, unfortunately, an Aberdeen fan and i decided to get her her Don's idol - Billy Dodds, of-course!  I wont go into too much detail about the Aberdeen releases but after approx 2 years of searching for a Dodds' Blister, the 4 only released Aberdeen figures popped up on eBay and i had to get them.  This of-course made her smile and me too as she now had her own collection to rival mine - NOT!
